Seafloor observation network has been a critical approach for oceanography research in the 21st century, and it plays a strategic role in building a maritime power. Therefore, this paper introduces the system architecture of a seafloor observation network and reviews the research progress of key technologies in the network. In addition, the paper summarizes the application status of the network both in China and abroad and points out its technological development directions.
